Podcast Announcement!

I’m so excited to announce that I’m starting up a podcast! Everyone else seems to be doing it, so why don’t I? For years I’ve been trying to figure out how to combine my background as a hypnotherapist and social worker with my love of the creative arts.

People who don’t know me well are often surprised to learn that I love to be on stage. Even though I’m very much an introvert, I embrace being on stage. In fact, I crave it. The allure of temporarily setting down my anxiety, pain, and mental chatter to embrace embodying another character is just way too strong to resist!

Writing is also another opportunity I use to express myself. I can scribble out my darkness and destroy it when I’m done. I can create new worlds out of my words and turn them into a story. Or, shameless plug here, I can write a book. My debut novel, Choosing Charity is now available on Amazon! And while I’m trying to figure out the complexities of turning it into an audio book, I’ll test the waters here by occasionally sharing some recorded excerpts.

And hypnosis, how does that fit into all of this? Well, after spending nearly 20 years working as a social worker, in desperation I turned to hypnosis for some relief of my chronic pain symptoms. It helped me so much that I made a career change and decided to obtain my certification as a hypnotherapist. But there are lots of myths and misinformation around hypnosis. In fact, I’ve had family members come right out and tell me that they can’t support me because they “don’t agree” with what I’m doing. So, I’m here to educate others about what hypnosis actually is, how it works, and how it can help.

CatharsisTime will be an exploration of the variety of creative outlets we can use to express, rather than repress.

Here’s a link to the introduction:

As a survivor of complex trauma, living with chronic pain and mental illness, I’ve found relief through a variety of those outlets. By day, I work part-time as a hypnotherapist, specializing in chronic pain. But I’m also a writer, mom, wife, singer, improviser and so much more! Join me as I offer free meditations, break down the myths around hypnosis, read excerpts from my writings, and hopefully interview other creative warriors who have taken their struggles and turned it into art!

So stay tuned for more information. And, if you have a suggestion, question, or are interested in being a guest, please contact me. Thanks so much!
